What’s the deal with Palaver Tree?

In short, we’re a West African/Nordic collaborative business that combines the cultural and design traditions of both regions to deliver distinctive, handcrafted products. We are a for-profit ecommerce social enterprise that is led by the fair and sustainable partnerships at the heart of our business.

What is Palaver Tree's short-tem mission

Palaver Tree has a more specific, short-mission of  helping women and young people working in handicraft sectors in West Africa. To do this we will provide support in following three areas:

  • Training and support to understanding the importance of quality in their work and to help produce products to rival major brands
  • The marketing expertise to bring these products into a demanding and inaccessible market
  • Sales of these products under a quality label, adding value and increasing recognition, market and growth opportunities

Palaver Tree will also be contributing approximately 2% of after-tax profits to African women's health causes.

Where are Palaver Tree products produced?

Primarily in Senegal by Senegalese craftsmen but we by no means limit our reach to this area. Wherever we can find skilled and willing artisans we expand our network to help develop pan-regional commerce.

Who manufactures Palaver Tree products?

Products are manufactured by the Palaver Tree Senegal team in close relation with our management team in Finland. Today the Palaver Tree team in Senegal consists of a local representative responsible for quality control and logistics, alongside the core design team of a principal fabric artist, tailor and shoemaker.

Our products are produced with Woodin fabrics – a regional manufacturer well known for its high quality and a 170-year-old-heritage. Woodin is part of the  VLISCO Group and has over 30 years of experience in the textile industry.

Do you offer gift-wrapping?

Not only will your purchase be pre-wrapped it will also come in a delightful gift box, building the anticipation of the recipient before your present is even opened.

Can I include a personalised message with my purchase?

Naturally. At Palaver Tree we love individuality. Send an email to: customerservice@mypalavertree.com with the requested message to be printed in bold and we’ll do the rest.

What are my payment options?

When purchasing products you can use the secure payment options with Paytrail Plc, bank secure codes or selected credit cards such as VISA and Mastercard.

Paytrail Plc is a collecting payment service provider and an authorized payment institution that works in cooperation with Finnish bank and credit institutions. Paytrail Plc will be shown as the payment recipient on your bank or credit card statement. Paytrail Plc will forward the payment to the merchant. For reclamations, please contact Palaver Tree Oy.

How do I cancel my order?

Contact to: customerservice@mypalavertree.com within 24–48hrs of placing your order. That way we should be able to catch any transaction settlement and shipping before it goes through. Anything after this window will be treated as a regular refund.

What if my order doesn’t arrive?

If your order doesn’t arrive by the end of the stated period we’ll send you a replacement through express delivery (dependent on availability). Send our support team an email to: customerservice@mypalavertree.com with your order details and we’ll get straight onto it. Remember, all Palaver Tree products are delivered to you free of charge!

What if something doesn’t fit or I want to return my order?

You have a grace period of 14 days in which to cancel or return a purchase (please read the General Conditions of Sales for details). If you are unhappy with a purchase send our support team an email to: customerservice@mypalavertree.com or customerservice@mypalavertree.fi with your order details. Remember that bangles, bracelets and armlets have size diagrams next to the online descriptions to help you choose the best fit, and necklaces are all loose-fitting so one size should fit all.
